Author’s Note
This piece was written from the quiet space where love, loss, and memory intersect. It reflects on how early abandonment can shape the way someone learns to love—and how that love can become conditional in the eyes of others. Her love was deeply valued when it was needed, when it was useful, when it provided care or stability. Over time, as she grew older and less necessary, that love seemed to depreciate, quietly replaced by others who were newer, closer, or more convenient.
Calculator of a Life is not an attempt to resolve that truth, but to name it—to honor love that was real and fully given, even when it was not preserved, reciprocated, or remembered by those who once depended on it.
