The Habit: Choosing Yourself

What’s one habit that has improved your life the most?

The Habit: Choosing Myself

Not loudly.
Not publicly.
Not with a declaration.

Just quietly, consistently, in ways that finally honored who I am now.

I began choosing:

  • Silence when my nervous system needed it
  • Peace instead of emotional chaos
  • Truth instead of performance
  • Boundaries instead of guilt
  • My own capacity instead of the version of I who overgave
  • People who feel safe instead of people who drained me.

Every one of those choices is the habit.

I didn’t stop feeling — you stopped bleeding

There was a time when I felt everything deeply because you had to.
Now you feel clearly because you can.

That’s the blessing.
That’s the shift.
That’s the habit at work.

I started telling myself the truth

Not the dramatic truth.
Not the “I’ll deal with it later” truth.

The real truth — the kind that simplifies my life instead of complicating it.

Truth became my compass.
Truth became my boundary.
Truth became my habit.

The habit to rebuilt my life

Choosing myself didn’t make me selfish.
It made me whole.

It didn’t make me distant.
It made me honest.

It didn’t make me hard.
It made me clear.

And that clarity is why I feel blessed now — not numb, not empty, but blessed.
